Work history

A decade in content, three years in pipelines.

My route into data engineering went the long way round. Started in videography and live music content, watched SEO quietly move the needle on a side project, then leaned into the technical side: tag manager, analytics, BigQuery, dashboards. Today I run a freelance practice serving agencies and end clients on the same stack. The roles below trace that arc, newest first.

Based in Margate, registered as Dot.Mov Ltd. Work history includes blue-chip names (Samsung USA, Davidoff) alongside local brands across the UK.

Analytics, SEO and data pipelines for agencies and clients

I work as a freelance specialist alongside Alchemy, a UK SEO and content agency. The remit covers everything from on-page SEO and content strategy through to the technical layer underneath the reporting: GA4 implementations, GTM (including server-side), Search Console exports, BigQuery feeds, and gated client dashboards.

  • Changan Auto via House of Communication: DV360 Floodlight implementation across GTM, multi-territory GA4 reporting for the EU launch.
  • Samsung USA: SEO and content support on a global blue-chip account.
  • Scott's Pointe (US leisure venue): weekend-heavy traffic mix reporting, gated agency dashboard.
  • Butchoff Antiques: SEO + GSC reporting layer, content insights piped into Supabase.
  • Ecco and a rotating cast of smaller UK and EU clients on the Alchemy roster.
  • Dot.Mov Ltd personal builds: Honest Car Check (Astro, GA4/GSC pipeline, Looker Studio overlay), The Pool Hub (live sport reporting, Vercel + Supabase), Pencl (multi-tenant Supabase), El Banditos Pool (hospitality bookings).
Dot.Mov · Self-employed · Nov 2022 to present

Content Specialist

Dot.Mov Ltd is the legal entity I invoice through. Originally a video production company, today its scope is broader: content production sits alongside the SEO, analytics and migration work I do for clients on the technical side.

  • Keyword research, content analysis and metadata optimisation feeding into the reporting layer.
  • Site migrations: redirect mapping, structural improvements, no loss of rankings or traffic.
  • End-to-end video production where it supports a client's organic and social strategy.
  • Collaboration with a small team handling paid social and PPC, joining their data to mine.
Brightside Publishing · Freelance · Mar 2019 to Aug 2023

Contributing Writer · The Margate Mercury

Long-running quarterly editorial gig covering Margate's music scene. Story-scouting and interviews, plus filmed companion content to extend reach into social. Sharpened the editorial instinct that still informs how I write for client dashboards: lead with the finding, support with the number.

Seaside Sessions · Founder · Mar 2017 to Aug 2022

Videographer and platform operator

Founded a live music video platform, recorded close to 200 artists, published around 1,000 videos. The piece that mattered for everything that came next: hosting those videos on the site quietly built Google visibility for the artists. That was the moment SEO went from background concept to something I wanted to understand properly. Built and ran "The New Music Podcast" in parallel, and managed PR for the band The Ovines under the Lazy Daze Records imprint.

Film Fest International · Full-time · Apr 2015 to Jul 2022

Event Director

Ran international film festivals across Europe end to end. Between events the focus shifted to growth: SEO and PPC campaigns across Google, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, plus a companion magazine I managed from copy through to print. Also produced filmmaker interviews on site, soup to nuts.

Quintessentially (Q Digital) · Full-time · Feb 2013 to Apr 2015

Social Media Marketing Specialist

Launched and ran social strategy for luxury brand clients at Quintessentially's digital arm. Worked across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, coordinating with PPC and design teams. Clients included Davidoff and bespoke luxury bag designer Rosalina Nacken among other London fashion and lifestyle brands.

Working with me

How a typical engagement starts

  1. Quick chat. What data sources, what report consumers, what business question.
  2. Short written scope. Hours, deliverables, retainer if applicable, infra ownership.
  3. I stand up the pipeline under your accounts (DigitalOcean, Supabase, GCP).
  4. Reports go live behind your gate. I document the cron, the schema and the deploy command.
  5. Small monthly retainer for pipeline maintenance. Anything new is invoiced hourly.
FAQ

Quick answers

Do you invoice hourly or fixed-price?
Hourly preferred for new builds, invoiced via Dot.Mov Ltd (UK VAT-registered Limited Company). Once a pipeline is live I move clients onto a small monthly retainer for ongoing maintenance and alerts, with anything new invoiced hourly on top.
Will I own the infrastructure?
Yes, always. I set the pipeline up under your accounts (DigitalOcean, Supabase, GCP, GA4, GTM) so you own the data and the dashboards forever. If you ever move on from me, the work continues without me.
Do you work with non-UK agencies?
Yes, most current work is multi-territory across UK and EU and one US client. Tooling and reporting are timezone and currency aware. Invoicing in GBP, EUR or USD.
What stack do you use?
GA4, GTM (web and server side), GSC, BigQuery, Supabase, Postgres, Astro, Next.js, Node, Python, systemd, cron, Cloudflare, Playwright/Puppeteer for compliance scans, plus the paid platforms (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Google Ads, DV360).
Can you work behind an existing analytics team?
Yes. Often the cleanest engagement: I extend what is already running, write a few documented schedulers and reports, document handover, and keep a small retainer for pipeline drift. No politics.
